The latest Ford/Colwill Team Squash charity match took place at the barracks squash courts on the 15th October and was played by 24 Members in four teams.
The teams comprised :-
Team 1 – Sam Millett, Tony Beaney, Steve Winder, Mick Jones, Spencer Bray & Harry White.
Team 2 – Glen Appleby, Stan Tassell, Mark Bottle, Andrew Smith, Rob Else & Julia Taylor-French.
Team 3 – Kenny Hyatt, Jake Tossell, Paul Wilson, Richard Osborn, Natasha Wilson & Hamish Sutherland.
Team 4 – Sam Rooks, Bill Thompson, Chris Cooper, John Davis, Jim Leconte & Gordon Smith.
Each team was graded 1 to 6 and each player had three 15 minute games against his or her corresponding opponent, american scoring winning as many points possible in the time constraint.
After a morning of excellent squash Team 4 ran out winners with a points total of 692 with second place going to Team 1 on 654 points, third place went to Team 2 on 589 points and Team 3 in last place on 544 points.
Unfortunately in the first set of matches Justin Greenaway sustained quite a severe knee injury and had to drop out. We hope that it will heal soon. Tony Beaney was on hand to step in and two of the teams has to be amended to make the change.
Thanks to everyone that came along and thanks to all that marked and refereed the games. Although he was unable to attend thanks go to Len Locke who along with Dinesh Bansal formulated the teams. Thanks also to Rob Else who presented the medals. I knew he had a use!
Thanks must also go to everyone including Members who were not able to play who contributed £180 for the Club to donate to the Help for Heroes Campaign.
